Raising Up Leaders 3 – World’s Greatest Leader

RAISING UP LEADERS

RAISING UP LEADERS 3 - WORLD'S GREATEST LEADER

JAKE STIMPSON | LEADERSHIP | EQUIPPING THE SAINTS | TRAINING | ADVENTURE | SERVANT | CRITICS

When you think of history’s greatest leaders, who comes to mind? Maybe great men or women like George Washington, Winston Churchill, Mother Teresa, or Martin Luther King. Steven Covey defined leadership as “communicating to people their worth and potential so clearly that they are inspired to see it in themselves.” With this definition, you’d be hard-pressed to find a better leader than Jesus, a man who took 12 average guys and created a 2000-year-old organization that has spread to every corner of the planet. So what were Jesus’ leadership qualities? How can we be a leader like Him?

RAISING UP LEADERS 2 - SOLDIERS, ATHLETES, AND FARMERS

JAKE STIMPSON | LEADERSHIP | EQUIPPING THE SAINTS | TRAINING | ROMAN SOLDIERS | OLYMPIC GAMES

2 Timothy 2:3-6 – “Share in suffering as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No soldier gets entangled in civilian pursuits, since his aim is to please the one who enlisted him. An athlete is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules. It is the hard-working farmer who ought to have the first share of the crops.” To pursue your calling in God and carry the burden of leadership is not going to be easy. In fact, it’s going to take a lot of hard work, suffering like a Roman soldier, giving it your all like an Olympic athlete, working long hard hours to get a harvest like a farmer.

RAISING UP LEADERS

RAISING UP LEADERS 1 - A NEW CONCEPT OF LEADERSHIP

JAKE STIMPSON | LEADERSHIP | EARLY CHURCH | BOOK OF ACTS | EQUIPPING THE SAINTS | TRAINING

When Jesus launched His church, it was a kingdom operating under radical new concepts of leadership. Rather than finding leaders from among the nobility, the skilled, the strong, or any number of other criteria, Jesus found His leaders from among normal people coming from all walks of life. He took them, with all their hang-ups, imperfections, and flaws, and raised them up to become pillars in His new Kingdom. This was a radical new concept of leadership, one that is ingrained in the DNA of the church to this day. So what are you going to do about it? Will you let Jesus raise you up to carry the burden of leadership in His church? Or will you let others have all the fun? 🙂

MICHAEL FISHER | HEBREWS 5:11-14 | MATURITY | SOLID FOOD | TRAINING | HEARING GOD’S VOICE | PROPHECY

Hebrews 5:14 exhorts us to be those who “because of practice have their senses trained to discern good and evil.” It’s about disciplining ourselves toward righteousness, following God toward the good and away from the bad, until it becomes second nature, just the way we live.
