THE CORNERSTONE VISION 8 - PREACHING IN POWER

JAKE STIMPSON | VISION | PREACHING THE GOSPEL | POWER | HOLY SPIRIT | HEALING | MIRACLES | DUNAMIS

Romans 15:18-19 – “For I will not venture to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me to bring the Gentiles to obedience — by word and deed, by the power of signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God — so that from Jerusalem and all the way around to Illyricum I have fulfilled the ministry of the gospel of Christ.” Want to preach the Gospel in a way that sees results? Do what Paul did. Preach “by word and deed, by the power of signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God.” Allow the Holy Spirit to move in you and through you, and you will be amazed at what He will do.

THE CORNERSTONE VISION 7 - POWER EVANGELISM

JAKE STIMPSON | VISION | PREACHING THE GOSPEL | POWER | HOLY SPIRIT | HEALING | MIRACLES | DUNAMIS

We were in downtown Romania sharing the Gospel when we saw an older woman selling doilies. The three of us all felt God leading us to talk with her, but as we shared about Jesus, she was hesitant, even combative. Rather than argue, we thanked her for her time and asked if we could pray for her before leaving. “Yes, please!” she said, showing us her arm, which was stuck at a 90-degree angle and in constant pain. We laid hands on her arm and prayed that God would do a miracle. Suddenly, right there in the middle of the busy city streets, she was totally and completely healed, all the pain leaving and full mobility returning to her arm. In Acts 1:8, Jesus promised, “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses…” We are called not just to share good information about Jesus but to walk in His power and see the sick healed and oppressed delivered.

JAKE STIMPSON | SAINT VALENTINE’S DAY | SEX | MARRIAGE | MARTYRDOM | PERSECUTION | ROMANS 13

It’s a story of torture, martyrdom, civil disobedience, sexual immorality… and smacking women with dead animals – Oh yes, the shocking truth behind the real Saint Valentine! 😉 Saint Valentine was martyred over 1700 years ago, but the lessons from his life are particularly relevant today. What’s the point of Biblical standards of sex and marriage? Is it ever right to disobey the government? How should we respond to suffering? Is there any hope in the darkness and confusion? What’s more valuable than your physical life?

JAKE STIMPSON | VISION | PREACHING THE GOSPEL | RAY COMFORT | THE LAW | 10 COMMANDMENTS

Would you take medicine if you didn’t know you were sick? Would you leave a burning building if you didn’t know it was on fire? Would you take your car to the mechanic if you thought everything was in tip-top shape? Of course not. Is it any wonder, then, that those who don’t know they need saving so often reject the Savior? How can we communicate the Gospel in a way that creates solid disciples of Jesus who cling to the Savior through thick and thin? There’s obviously no one answer, but evangelist Ray Comfort has an incredibly effective method he calls WDJD.

THE CORNERSTONE VISION 3 - WHAT IS THE GOSPEL?

JAKE STIMPSON | VISION | PREACHING THE GOSPEL | GREAT COMMISSION | EVANGELISM | FOUR SPIRITUAL LAWS

When you live in Wisconsin, you grow to like cheese. It’s just part of our DNA up here in the frozen tundra. Probably literally a part of our DNA at this point. After a few years as a missionary in Romania, we were hankering for some good cheddar cheese. We visited international stores, talked to expats, and kept our eyes constantly open, always on the hunt for the elusive dairy product that would satisfy our wildest dreams. When we finally tracked some down, we told everyone we knew where to get it. Why? Because finding good cheddar in Eastern Europe is good news. The Greek word translated “Gospel” literally means “good news.” What is this good news? How can we share it? Watch the video…

THE CORNERSTONE VISION 2 - THE GOSPEL IS THE ANSWER

JAKE STIMPSON | VISION | PREACHING THE GOSPEL | GREAT COMMISSION | ROMANS 1 | ROMAN EMPIRE

What would you do if you lived under a tyrannical government with corrupt leaders who demanded your absolute obedience? Leaders who emptied the treasury for their own perverse pursuits, leaders of such moral depravity and brutal violence that it would shock even the most hardened heart? What would you do if the people around you were indifferent to suffering, if right and wrong didn’t mean anything anymore, if the whole world seemed to have gone mad all at once? That’s the world into which Jesus launched His church with a simple command – preach the Gospel. If the Gospel was the answer in the first century, the Gospel is still the answer today. Church, we need to get serious about proclaiming what Jesus has done.

JAKE STIMPSON | VISION | PREACHING THE GOSPEL | DISCIPLES | PLANTING CHURCHES | GREAT COMMISSION

Preaching the Gospel, making disciples, raising up leaders, and establishing churches until the whole earth is filled with the glory of the Lord. That just so happens to be our vision statement at Cornerstone, but it’s more than that. It’s what Jesus commissioned His people to do to spread His kingdom on the earth. It’s about seeing lives changed.

JAKE STIMPSON | REMEMBER | DEUTERONOMY | TRADITION | FORGET | NEW YEARS EVE

“Remember the days of old; consider the years of many generations; ask your father, and he will show you, your elders, and they will tell you.” (Deuteronomy 32:7) Throughout the Bible, God exhorts His people to remember, to not forget all He has done. Despite the constant exhortation, throughout every phase in their history, Israel continually forgot the works of God and opened themselves up to sin, discouragement, fear, and idolatry. As we finish up 2020, don’t be like Israel. Take time to turn to God and remember what He has done this year.
