WHAT IF HE MEANT WHAT HE SAID?

WHO CAN HEAR IT?

BRIAN SHULER | COST OF DISCIPLESHIP | JOHN 6 | EAT MY FLESH | HARD SAYINGS

Jesus said some difficult things. At one point, He used a harsh metaphor to talk about how we need to cling closely to Him and receive His life in us. When the people heard it, they responded, “This statement is very unpleasant; who can listen to it?” Many that day left Him. Turning then to His disciples, Jesus asked them whether they, too, would leave. Peter’s response was classic: “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have words of eternal life.” This is a question for all of us. When Jesus asks for something hard, do you stick with Him like Peter or do you leave like the crowd?
