I WILL BUILD MY CHURCH

I WILL BUILD MY CHURCH

JAKE STIMPSON | MATHEW 16:18 | NOT BY MIGHT | GATES OF HELL | PAN | IMMORALITY | SELFISHNESS

In Matthew 16:18, Jesus took His disciples to Caesarea Philippi, a city dedicated to the false gods of unrestrained immorality, authoritarian government, and selfish ambition. There he made a remarkable statement – “I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” It was true when He said it, and it’s still true in our day, when those three same false gods are rearing their heads.

FAITH OVER FEAR, PEACE OVER PANIC

FAITH OVER FEAR, PEACE OVER PANIC - MY RESPONSE TO THE CORONAVIRUS

JAKE STIMPSON | CORONAVIRUS | FEAR | PANIC | PANDEMIC | CHURCH HISTORY | DISEASE | HEALING THE SICK

With widespread panic and fear around the coronavirus, how should we respond? Jesus gave us a clue in Matthew 8, when he was approached by a man who had leprosy, a highly infectious disease feared in the ancient world. For the safety of the community, lepers were expected to live alone outside the city, wear tattered clothes and style their hair to discourage visitors, and shout a warning when people came too close. What did Jesus do? He extended his hand, touched the man, and healed him. Whether this is just another fad virus or a plague of Biblical proportions, we must not run away or close ourselves off in fear or panic. We must not cave to the pressure around us. Instead, we must respond to this crisis in faith and peace and be ready to minister to those in need.
