Everyone knows Jesus is the Savior, right? From South Park to Elvis Presley to Neil Diamond, our culture is rife with statements to that effect. We talk about “getting saved.” And it seems like every pop icon, moviestar, and athlete feels the need to “thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” In reality, I think we use the word a lot but we’ve cheapened it to the point where we don’t really know what it means. And we don’t really live like it’s real.

Throughout history, despite our mistakes and weaknesses, the church has been an immeasurable force for good, bringing God’s blessing to the earth wherever it advances. And as that church moves forward, person by person, the gates of hell don’t stand a chance.
